True Dharma Eye, Case 18:
“Nanquan and the Land Deity”
What kind of mind do you bring into a meeting with a friend or an encounter at work? Can you hear that persistent “I am”—a trigger-happy need to shoot off about accomplishments, old scores and yesterday’s news? The practitioner’s imperative is not to give in to this limited self, and to respond from the heart. When we do, we leave no traces. Intimate with each moment, no one can say who we are, and what needs to be done is done.
