Facts About Plastic Water Bottles
- 1.5 million barrels of oil are used to make
water bottles in the U.S. each year.
- 86% of plastic bottles in the U.S. (22
billion bottles, worth $1 billion), end up
in a landfill or incinerator each year.
- It takes 400 to 1,000 years for plastic to
degrade. 46,000 pieces of plastic float in
every square mile of ocean. 100,000 marine
animals die each year by eating it.
- 40% of bottled water is actually tap water
(which has more stringent EPA standards
than bottled “spring” water).
- The chemical Bisphenol-A (BPA) contained
in plastic bottles has been linked to
hyperactivity, obesity, hormonal imbalances,
cancer, and brain damage.
The reusable Green Dragon bottle was made in the U.S. out of
brushed aluminum with a BPA-Free, modified
polyester lining that passes all USA and
Canadian quality and safety tests.
