The net is the rigid way we have defined our lives: the cage and prison in which we lock ourselves. The threads of the net are our self-imposed restrictions, limits, and chains. The net can be greed, anger, and ignorance. It is about apathy, anxiety, fear, defensiveness, aggression, and arrogance ? all of the mental constructs that choke our lives. And, as John Daido Loori, Roshi points out, Zen practice can also be a dimension of the net when it is distorted for self-serving purposes. Daido Roshi exhorts us to attend to the subtleties of our blind spots by employing each other to challenge and encourage our clarity. DVD, 50 minutes.
