Often the most tormenting aspect of practice is knowing we possess a treasure within ourselves, knowing this precious business beneath the robe, yet feeling incapable of accessing it. We go around and around in our mental convolutions, and the peace we hear about in the teachings seems galaxies away. In this inspiring talk, Shugen Sensei reminds us of the importance of returning to beginner's mind, a fresh, unencumbered way of practice free from expectations and agendas. We needn't fear our confusion and habitual patterns; we can use every situation, no matter how difficult, to return to the beginning.
