“Let me respectfully remind you, life and death are of supreme importance…” At Zen Mountain Monastery, we chant these words every night to remind ourselves of the impermanence of our lives and the urgency of putting to rest the question of life and death. It is not enough to have an intellectual understanding of our finite existence. We must feel it in our very bones, in our every cell, so we can combust our lives with all the joy and passion, seriousness and determination that they deserve.
