Koans of the Way of Reality: Xin Yang's "Sweet Melons"
The teacher in this koan says, "Give the sweet [melons] to those who have never been to the garden." When we take a meal, we receive life and merge with the universe. What nourishes us has the potential to nourish others. Our practice calls for us to give away the fruits of our practice-what we each have to offer as individuals-to those who may never encounter a monastery garden, kitchen or zendo.
