True Dharma Eye Case 199: Dongshan's Essential Path
Nature is a self-maintaining organism. It has an inherent intelligence, and if we allow nature to take care of itself it will bloom and prosper. Likewise, we don't need to constantly micromanage our lives. For most of us it's difficult to imagine living a life not under our conscious control, a life where we trust ourselves and our instincts. Yet this is the self we need to embody in order to be free. When we loosen up our ideas of how we are supposed to be, we find ourselves walking a path rather than trying to nail life down. We discover the path by an awareness of each moment, and a heartfelt certainty that we are each utterly complete and utterly unique.
