Peaceful Piggy Meditation, by Kerry Lee Maclean

$17.00
Peaceful Piggy Meditation, by Kerry Lee Maclean

Whimsical, wise, and... porcine, this book is both funny and instructive. The little piggies are full of mischief which sometimes gets out of control. In a non-denominational, brightly colored setting, Maclean demonstrates the benefits of just being quiet, and the value of mindful beathing in a quiet space. After the piggies' story, Maclean offers instructions on meditation and personal experiences from her work as a children's meditation teacher.

THIS IS THE BEST BOOK FOR PARENTS AND KIDS. I am a PhD with a very bright, very restless and sometimes difficult child. Using this book as our guide we meditate each night. When we started we just sat for a (sometimes fidgety) 5 mins. From the first day I saw a difference in both my son and myself.

I was afraid that for the worst of reasons--because I wanted time for myself--my son was learning bad habits spending time eatting, watching TV and playing video games. As part of a plan to become a more present parent I use the ideas put forward in this book (picked out quite by chance at the local library) before our bedtime story.

He loved the "jar exercise" so much that he carries the jar with him now.

The book is charming in its own; the illustrations reflect real family life much better than the average children's book (the pigs play video games and attend realistic schools).

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a quiet book at bedtime. I would recommend even more to someone who wanted to introduce a quiet center into their child's daily life and did not know where to start.
