The Hip Series: Kinesthetic Stretches for the Hips and Pelvis by Allan Saltzman

$12.00
The Hip Series: Kinesthetic Stretches for the Hips and Pelvis by Allan Saltzman

Painful sitting? The most stable posture for meditation is sitting on the floor. But for most new sitters, conventional postures put painful pressure on knees and ankles because of tightness in their hips and pelvis muscles. This book contains a series of simple, effective stretches that open the hips and relax the pelvis, allowing almost anyone to sit comfortably in a cross-legged or kneeling posture. With instructional photographs, The Hip Series offers an opportunity to get in touch with, and gently open, this area of your body, and to greatly enhance your zazen experience.

I received this book little over a week and a half ago approximately. This book is very easy to understand, and has helped me very much with my zazen. Sitting comfortably has been a problem for me and I would like to thank ZMM for getting it out there. I would not hesitate in recommending this book to anyone having similar problems sitting.

I am very grateful for this book. It is simple and clear, and has made zazen much more stable and comfortable for me. I have done yoga exercises in conjunction with my zazen for many years, but (like many practitioners) have never really been able to sit comfortably--and (also like many other practioners) sesshin has always been quite painful for me. I am taken aback by the level of physical openness that even one week of practice with these exercises has created within my zazen. I am profoundly thankful to ZMM for finding this book.
