The Mountain Seat zafu combines a layer of viscoelastic foam with a sturdy, buckwheat hull base, covered in a durable cotton/poly shell. The foam layer conforms to your body contour, eliminating many complaints caused by more traditional kapok or cotton-filled meditation cushions. Because of its structural memory, the foam will provide years of maintenance-free support. The second layer consists of buckwheat hulls in a muslin bag sealed with a Velcro strip. By opening the flap beneath the zafu's handle, the amount of buckwheat can be easily adjusted to suit your individual needs.

This seat was the end of a long search for a meditation cushion that fit my body type. I have lower back problems and difficulty bending my legs into the lotus position. This is the best seat I've found and will not look elsewhere when I need a replacement. The price is worth it because I spend more than $100 trying cushion after cushion before finding this one. It allows me support and the height gives me space to gently cross my legs and stay a bit elevated to prevent my legs from falling asleep in the first 5 minutes of meditating. I highly recommend this product. It's well built and your body will be thanking your for purchasing it every time you sit.

So, you are a "full figured" buddhist that has a hard time finding the "just right" zafu? This is it! I have been sitting for about 20 years, I have used kapok and buckwheat hull zafus, and this one totally rocks. Firm enough to hold my large frame, yet pliant enough to not cut off circulation. If you need to sit a little higher because you are not very flexible, I would highly recomend this zafu. Quality is top notch, nice attention to detail. May you be well, and sit strongly!

I have been using the mountain seat large zafu since May and can now sit for much longer periods without pain. I really engage my practice now instead of just enduring through.

The cushion is high enough to allow my knees to fall away from my trunk yet my knees still rest on the zabuton relieving pressure on my legs and feet. An hour of sitting without a break is something I now do pretty easily.

Also, the cushion's foam top prevents pain arising from pressure on the sitz bones which used to plague me a lot. I was told I could remove some of the buckwheat to make it lower if wanted, but I have not needed to change anything.

Thank you for your tireless labor in bringing this cushion to everyone. The longer time I'm now able to sit, returning over and over to my practice, has truly help me I am very grateful to have this zafu.
